What is LVT?
Luxury Vinyl Tile, or LVT, as it’s professionally known, is one of the fastest growing segments in the flooring industry today. You’ve probably seen it, though you may not have realized what you were looking at. This is because LVT is known as a master imitator, specially designed to look exactly like natural materials such as wood, stone, or tile, while providing a comfortable surface for everyday living.
Unlike those natural materials, however, LVT is luxury flooring in more than one sense. It’s easier to maintain, since it doesn’t require refinishing like wood, or resealing like some tile. It’s less expensive and more durable than hardwood, ceramic, and stone. Best of all, it looks almost exactly like the materials it’s imitating, which means guests will think that the Italian marble in your kitchen came from Rome, instead of from Crystal Carpet & Flooring in Wilmington, NC. We won’t tell if you don’t!
Is LVT right for me?
Now that you know that luxury vinyl flooring is beautiful, affordable, and durable, you’re probably asking yourself, “What’s the catch?” Here’s the secret: there is no catch. LVT is a newer material, developed using advanced photographic technology and four distinct layers fused together to create a one-of-a-kind flooring experience. LVT is currently being embraced by everyone from professional designers to DIY-ers, and it’s the natural choice for a natural look with an affordability and durability that surpasses the products made by Mother Nature. As an added bonus for those of us lucky enough to live in Wilmington, NC, LVT is an ideal choice for beach houses – easy to clean, waterproof, and a perfect complement to our beautiful coastal beaches.
Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP)
Luxury Vinyl Plank is made up of three primary layers. On top is a protective wear layer made of an enhanced urethane that makes it easy to clean and resistant to scratches and scuffs. There is also a protective clear film layer that adds durability and helps protect against rips, tears and gouges. On the printed design layer, the visuals are very realistic natural wood planks. The bottom-most layer is the tile backing with up to 70% ground limestone to add structural strength and durability. LVP comes in traditional plank widths and features beveled edges and ends.
Crystal Carpets & Flooring Company offers the finest LVT and LVP manufacturers available.
